GENSETS TO POWER A MAJOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY IN BARHREIN

Visa SpA has been once again involved in a high-profile project of supplying generators for a Data Center ensuring un interrupted power supply, strictly complying with the specific and high-demanding requirements of customer. Visa SpA is specialized in complex projects and in supplying the right products for data centers, thanks to the experience developed in this sector.  

This project consists of 2 units of gensets of 1000 kVA each, working in parallel with each other that  are specifically designed to meet the requirements of maximum reliability intended for DCP in DATA Center application for one major telecommunication company in Bahrain. 

Given the critical nature of the application, machines have been developed with all the appropriate features to ensure maximum safety and to allow it to work properly, especially in an area where there are frequent interruptions in energy supply, sometimes even for prolonged periods.

Purpose

Given the critical nature of the application, the gensets have been developed with all the appropriate features to ensure the maximum safety and to allow them to work properly, considering that the installation site is an area where there are frequent power outages, sometime also for prolonged periods, causing a high risk of loss of data or equipment damages. 
Moreover, the territory’s climate presents relevant challenges due to high temperature and humidity that can affect electrical equipment. 

Technical specifications

The two generating sets are equipped with Cummins engine model KTA38-G14, selected for its reliability and robustness, crucial aspects to avoid any risks from power failure. 
They are coupled with Stamford alternator model S6L1D-E, complete with AVR.  Stamford alternators are renowned throughout the power generator industry for dependability and innovation, granting cutting-edge technology. The machines are equipped with ComAp controller for parallel between each other. Both generators are in open version. 

Challenging aspects   

A particularly challenging aspect of this project was represented by the dimensions of the machines compared to the limited space in the engine room. 

Fuel tanks 

Two separate tanks of 1000 litres had to be designed in terms of sizes to fit into the room. 

Machine housing

The generating sets have been housed in specific separate rooms, prepared by the customer with all the appropriate features that allow it to work properly.
