VISA gensets for the Courmayeur-Montblanc cable-car plant
Visa SpA has recently supplied another special application for the ski lift sector through the supply to the Courmayeur-Montblanc cable-car plant located in Plan Checrouit for the company Doppelmayr Italia Srl which carried out the complete renovation of the cable-car plant. An Onis Visa P1050 generating set with over 1000 kVA was supplied to support the Mains electricity in the event of power outages or network anomalies. Relying on a high-level emergency genset is essential for lift plants to guarantee service continuity, and above all, the safety of users. In fact, the back-up generator ensures that the facility continues to function properly even in the most unexpected and emergency situations.
Besides, even during periods of scheduled maintenance of the main electricity grid, a gen set acting as back-up to the structure is strategic because it provides the temporary energy necessary for the maintenance activities without having to suspend the operation of the ski lift system. This reduces downtime and ensures reopening to the public on time.
The system grants that the lift plant operates reliably in all conditions and it helps to offer a safe and pleasant experience for users.

Purpose:
The lift plants are designed to transport people so the most important aspect to take into consideration during the various design phases is the safety of the passengers.
The project needs to count on a reliable electricity backup system considering that the structure is in a mountain area where the electricity supply can be irregular: blackouts or power shortages can cause relevant problems to the users or even the interruption of the operations.
Moreover, lifting or transport installations require the use of different auxiliary equipment, such as lighting, monitoring, control and communication systems. A back-up genset is designed to supply electricity to these areas, ensuring the correct functioning of the structure, even when all these systems are not connected to the Mains.
Technical features:
The genset is fitted with Perkins engine model 4008TAG2A, 1500 rpm, equipped with engine preheater complete with timer and ambient thermostat; it is coupled with Stamford alternator model PI734A with resin-coated internal C.T.s. The genset mounts an automatic digital control panel (AMF function) Guard Revolution with remote monitoring operation.
Besides the standard 1600A circuit breaker, two additional 4-poles circuit breakers have been installed, one of 100A and the other of 630A.
The machine comes in open version with an on-board fuel tank of 400 litres.
SuperVisor Plus remote monitoring via GSM
The generator set is equipped with the SuperVisor Plus remote-control system via GSM which allows the customer to monitor the main parameters and alarms in real time, identifying any possible anomalies to allow the operator to immediately intervene in case of need. The machine can be started or stopped remotely as if the operator were physically present next to the control panel. This system also allows the visualization of the statistics and graphic trends to check the constant trend of the main parameters, the visualization of periodic reports of the most important statistical data and the sending of notifications via email/SMS for alarms, anomalies, and machine maintenance.
The gensets are connected to the VISA SPA technical department where they are managed by the qualified staff to detect and solve any problems or anomalies before they can turn into dangerous critical issues.
Baseframe and refueling system:
The genset is in “U”-form baseframe open version, equipped with 400-litres integrated fuel tank and leak retention basin and complete with automatic refueling system.
Machine room
The generator set has been designed to be placed inside a specific machine room suitable to allow its perfect functioning.
