Visa SpA supplies energy for a great tunneling project

Visa SpA has recently supplied 2 generating sets destined to the sector of tunnel industry to power equipment involved in tunneling operations in the Middle East. 
Our technical-engineering team worked closely with the customer in all stages of the project, evaluating not only the technical aspects, but also the characteristics of the place of use of the machines, the power requirements of the systems, the dimensions of the machines, the environmental regulations up to the operational-logistics details. 

DATA DESCRIPTION

Generating sets supplied:        2 units of model F 203 GX. special version 

Purpose: 

The project involves a reliable power supply system in emergency mode to support the machines used in excavation sites for the construction of the road communication network.

Special configuration: 

Considering the type of application and the specific requirements for this project, we offered tailor-made gensets. Since they are used in explosive environments, some components of the gensets comply with ATEX regulations.

Technical specifications: 

Generating sets 400V, 60 HZ, 1800 RPM, equipped with FPT IVECO engine coupled with Mecc-alte alternator complete with AVR. They are provided with manual control panel with auto-start function.   
They also have a robust dedicated 300 Liters fuel-tank integrated on board.
The baseframe has been designed to be extremely compact to suit the limited dimensions in which the machines are supposed to work in.

Machines are also equipped with DPF particulate filter mounted on the upper part of the canopy.

Control panel: 

The two units of gensets are equipped with Guard Revolution control panel, manual and autostart version. They are also fitted with Ethernet module which allows to monitor the status of the machine from the PC.

ATEX certification: 

Considering that tunnel drilling works are subject to explosions and risk of gas leaks during excavation operations, some components of the generating sets are ATEX-Certified. 

Door opening system: 

The genset enclosure is equipped with lift-up doors that are easily removable to ensure a total access to the internal machine for inspection or maintenance operations.   The doors are made of aluminum to be easily lifted. They are equipped with a safety protection system that prevents sudden closures or accidental falls on the operator. 

Baseframe and canopy: 

The whole structure is compact to limit the overall dimensions. The generator sets feature a robust structure designed for challenging environments and rigorous conditions. The powder-coated steel baseframe is well-suited for handling operations.  

The baseframe of the genset is designed with specific provisions that allow the machine to be inclined according to the slope of the tunnels, ensuring that the generating set always operates in a horizontal position.
